Secondary Years consist of Key Stages 3 and 4 of the British Curriculum modified to meet the needs of international students. Key Stage 3 is taught from Year 7 to 9 (ages 11 to 14) and Key Stage 4 from Year 10 to 11 (ages 14 to 16).
Key Stage 3 teaching consists of the same areas of study encountered at Key Stage 2. At the end of Year 9, students retain the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. Additional subjects are then selected by the students to complete their individual programme of study. This programme will form the basis of their studies for Key Stage 4 where they will be prepared for the IGCSE (International General Certificate in Secondary Education) examination at the end of Year 11.
Following the IGCSE students will select 3 or 4 subjects for Advanced Level Study. This two-year course prepares students for AS level examinations (at the end of Year 12) and A Level examinations (at the end of Year 13).
Currently RCIS offers Key Stage 3 for Year 7.
Starting from the year 2008, our students in Year 7 will take part in international examinations under the supervision of QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) and ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research). Results of these exams will give us an idea of our students' level as compared with students from other schools both in Thailand and abroad.
The Secondary School day starts at 8:00 am with the school assembly. Snack is served around 9:30 am and lunch at noon. The students go home after second snack at 2:20 pm or stay for after-school activities.
